CSOS stands for “Controlled Substance Ordering System”. It is an overall system allowing all buyers and sellers to conduct secure electronic transmission of controlled substance orders without the supporting paper Form 222. The adoption of CSOS standards is the only allowance for the electronic transmission of Schedule II controlled substance orders between controlled substance manufacturers, distributors, pharmacies, and other DEA authorized ordering entities.

CSOS uses Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) technology, which requires CSOS users to obtain a CSOS digital certificate for electronic ordering.

CSOS Requirements:

Windows XP Professional or Windows 2000 Professional, 512 MB of memory, Windows Internet Explorer, Installation of our Remote Access Tool (eBlvd), DEA electronic CSOS Certificates

Note:

  • EVERY PHARMACIST at your location must have their own DEA CSOS Signing Certificate
  • YOUR PHARMACY TECHS are NOT ALLOWED to sign your CSOS orders.
  • Allowing anyone besides the DEA CSOS Signing Certificate owner to sign your order is like FORGING YOUR SIGNATURE on a paper e222 form.
  • You must have full Administrator Privileges in Windows in order for the nuBridges e222 CSOS software to work.

Before CSOS can be installed for your pharmacy you MUST download, sign, and fax the following agreement to Rochester Drug Cooperative, Inc.

The following are the Cut-Off Times for CSOS:

Mon – Thurs: before 5:00pm (Order should get to you the next day provided you are not on credit hold and it is not a RDC observed holiday)

Friday: No Cut Off (Order should get to you on Monday provided you are not on credit hold and it is not a RDC observed holiday)

Saturday: No Cut Off (Order should get to you on Monday provided you are not on credit hold and it is not a RDC observed holiday)

Sunday: before 2:00pm (Order should get to you on Monday provided you are not on credit hold and it is not a RDC observed holiday)
